Issaisho

It takes a normal type of tree primarily several years to several dozen years to reach maturity but issaisho (one year) refers to a variety of plants that blossom and come to fruition in the same year seeds are planted. Gardening and bonsai circles stretch their interpretation and apply issaisho to those which reach maturity and come to fruition in a year or two, including those which grow to trees and plants from seeds, as well as those from grafting and cutting. Generally, ume (Japanese apricot), momo (peach) and sakura (Japanese cherry) manifest 1-year-old blossoms and bear fruit earlier than ordinary plants.
