Ikimichi

Ikimichi is trunk lifeline and the same as mizusui (lifeline). It refers to a section of trunks of shimpaku (Sargent’s juniper), tosho (Japanese needle juniper) and ichii (Japanese yew) that primarily possess jin (withered branches) and shari (withered trunk). Whereas jin and shari are dried up parts of a tree, ikimichi points to a section where water is pumped up.
