Shakan

Meaning a slanting stem, it is one of the forms of a bonsai tree with its trunk standing slanted. An ideal inclination is 45 degrees to 60 degrees to the ground. It is important for the tree to have a sense of security, powerful deep roots spreading, the trunk in standing, branches in arrangements and to keep balance with the pot. Trees grown tilted are found in many pines, while they are also spotted occasionally in Trident maples and Japanese maples.
