Description: Ichii grows wild in mountains in Japan from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south. It grows strongly and sprouts out well. Its wood is hard. Its trunk turns darkish after being cultivated in a container for a long period of time. Rub away the dark surface, and a beautiful reddish bark is revealed. The number of young, fine branches can be increased though sashiki cutting around June. The trunk grows at a fast pace. Ichii loves moisture and is called ”mizumatsu” (water pine). A sufficient amount of water should be given. Hamizu leave moistening is effective.
