Netsuranari
A tree form. It refers to a tree whose trunks extend from a single root in a ground-hugging manner. There are only a few species that will grow into a ”netsuranari” tree. Among them are ”goyomatsu” (Japanese White Pine), ”tosho” (Needle Juniper), ”sugi” (Japanese Cedar) and ”yamamomiji” (Matsumurae Maple). To grow a ”netsuranari” tree it is important to put varied stress depending on trunk thickness, length and trunk intervals. ”Netsuranari” trees of even-numbered trunks are unpopular as is the case for ”takan” multiple-trunk ones.
