Hikobae
”Hikobae” means the coming out of a ”futeiga” indefinite bud from under the surface at the root of a tree. It also refers to the indefinite bud itself. The phenomenon often occurs to frutescent, multi-trunk species of tree. If the situation is left untouched, the tree will likely weaken. It is best to remove such buds. In some species, such as ”zakuro” (pomegranate), the buds can be used to multiply by division.
