Hamizu
Moistening leaves with water. ”Hamizu” differs from ”nemizu” (watering a tree at its root). The work is done to replenish water for leaves that dried up or to adjust leaves’ surface temperature. Giving water to leaves for a certain period of time is effective in preventing moisture transpiration from leaves, particularly after a tree was transplanted to a pot and lost much of its root, and also during the hot summer season. A ”joro” sprinkling can or a sprayer is used in the work.
