Japanese Cultural Experience

The workshop for Japanese cultural experience will be held on November 20, Sunday. We would like you to take this opportunity to experience the profound Japanese hearts from the traditional cultures in Japan.

Optional fee for each workshop is \3,500.
**We will close the reservation when the fixed number is filled.

Ikebana (Flower Arrangement) /2pm~4pm

Ikebana is one of traditional arts of Japan.
In the workshop, you may arrange some kinds of seasonal flowers and create the most beautiful shape for the flowers with your sensibility.

The guide is Ms. Hosei Takeda, a space artist and one of 1st Term Masters belonging to the head of Ohara School of Ikebana. She likes to go in the mountain and to contact with the natural flowers. She is earnest over the international exchange through the flowers.

Sanuki Kagari Temari (Traditional handmade ball in Kagawa) /10am~noon

It is the handmade ball by the technique of darning with the cotton, a kind of products at Edo era (1603-1868) in Kagawa Prefecture. A core of the base is made in the chaff. The characteristic is the simple texture interlaced by the color of cotton dyed with plant and the geometric pattern.

The handmade ball of tradition was ceased, but it had been recreated over 30 years and designated as the traditional industrial work. Everybody can enjoy the handmade ball for the commonalty.

In this workshop, we will make the handmade ball of basic pattern.

Shodo (Calligraphy) /10am~noon

Shodo was introduced from China with kanji character in old time. It has been merged into Japanese own culture and come down. It is one of traditional cultures of Japan. Shodo is the plastic art to reflect the spiritual depth and beautifulness, by written kanji and kana characters using a brush and sumi, which means ink.

In the workshop, you may reflect your own thought on your calligraphy over concentration of mind.

Kimono Wearing /10am~noon

Kimono is the national costume and one of traditional cultures of Japan. It has been came down and developed against the background of Japanese history and climate. When the people wear the kimono, they can naturally learn the graceful behavior and elegant manner.

In the workshop, you may taste the goodness of kimono and learn the heart of Japan.
