The first “Asia-Pacific Bonsai and Suiseki Convention & Exhibition” was held in Bali in Indonesia in 1991. And finally Japan has been nominated to host the “11th Asia-Pacific Bonsai and Suiseki Convention & Exhibition” after a succession of other Asian countries.

While it is the first time for Japan to host the “Asia-Pacific Bonsai and Suiseki Convention & Exhibition”, it will be the second time we have hosted an International Bonsai Convention in Japan. Japan hosted “1st International Bonsai Convention” in Saitama Prefecture (formerly Omiya-City) in 1989. The venue for the “11th Asia-Pacific Bonsai and Suiseki Convention & Exhibition,” Takamatsu, in Kagawa prefecture, is well known as the home of pine tree to Bonsai enthusiasts around the world needless to say Japan. Famous gardens such as, Ritsurin Garden, which is representative of Japanese gardens, and Tamamo Park which is the historical site of Tamamo castle. The rich green and old pine trees will fascinate Bonsai enthusiasts very much.

The Convention in Takamatsu will mark the 20th anniversary of “ASPAC Bonsai and Suiseki Convention & Exhibition”.It has become notable as a major international convention in the world with the efforts of many people across Asia. To be able to add the remarkable history of the convention, all of the organizing committee members of Takamatsu will strive to make this a successful and memorable convention.
