Japanese New Year

ASPAC Committee members gathered at one of the member’s house on Jan.13. We did Mochi Tsuki, a traditional custom where we pound steamed rice into sticky rice cakes. We invited local bloggers who reported the event worldwide from Takamatsu.

It is much colder this winter than usual in Takamatsu. It was still cold on this day but the sky was big and blue and it was so beautiful. There were Kadomatsu (New Year’s decorative pine trees) at the entrance of the Japanese house. It was bathed in sunlight and was very beautiful. This reminds us that Spring is on the way.

Local school children came over to cheer us on. They chanted in their cute voices in time with the pounding and their voices rose to the sky .It was a good start for new year for ASPAC!
The movie report will start sometimes on middle of January.
