Edanuki
The removal of unwanted branches, edanuki is not intended to pull off twigs but rather to cut off relatively large branches and those directly sticking out of trunks. Edanuki is not carried out much on fully grown trees. A good way to get rid of unnecessary branches is to cultivate trees appropriately while they are under development and gradually take out unnecessary branches as trees improve their gracefulness. Also, the term edanuki is used to refer to the removal of unwanted branches when rearranging the front part of the tree.
