”Meokoshi” is a technical term for ”hariganekake” wiring work. It refers to the work of picking a bud at the tip of a branch with wires and shaping a tree, mainly of ”shohaku” evergreen pines. This work is aimed at expressing a sense of dynamism and improving the appearance of a tree. It is also effective in improving ventilation and catching more sunlight. Sunlight to the root of a bud greatly improves the sprouting of a new bud.
