Kobanbachi (or Daenbachi)

A bonsai pot of an oval or elliptical shape. Containers of this shape are best used for trees of gentle shape. Shallow pots of the shape properly fit slim single-trunk trees and multi-trunk ones such as group-planted ''momiji'' (Japanese Maple). Deep pots are suitable for fruit-bearing trees, such as ''himeringo'' (Chinese Crab Apple) and ''umemodoki'' (Japanese Winterberry).
