Netsuranari

A tree form. It refers to a tree whose trunks extend from a single root in a ground-hugging manner. There are only a few species that will grow into a ''netsuranari'' tree. Among them are ''goyomatsu'' (Japanese White Pine), ''tosho'' (Needle Juniper), ''sugi'' (Japanese Cedar) and ''yamamomiji'' (Matsumurae Maple). To grow a ''netsuranari'' tree it is important to put varied stress depending on trunk thickness, length and trunk intervals. ''Netsuranari'' trees of even-numbered trunks are unpopular as is the case for ''takan'' multiple-trunk ones.
