A message of gratitude

We must humbly admit there were some difficulties during ASPAC -Takamatsu. First of all, it was the first time for Japan to host ASPAC, and everything was new to us and all of our preparations were done through trial and error. Secondly there were the unexpected events which occurred this year - the massive earthquake in the Tokai region and the sudden passing of the Honorary Chairman of ASPAC-Takamatsu, Mr. Daizo Iwasaki.

We sincerely appreciate all of your great support. We could not have achieved our intended objective of ASPAC-Takamatsu without your cooperation. We also express our apologies to you if you found our service was in any way not to your satisfaction.

Although the weather was not ideal for the first 2 days, the Japanese Bonsai and Suiseki exhibition, as well as the highly skilled demonstrations, were praised by the many participants from overseas. Finally on the third day, the weather cleared and the turnout to the Exhibitions was great!

Over 76,000 people attended, which was far more than we had anticipated. Our main hope was that ASPAC could help foster the exchange of international culture and trade through Bonsai and Suiseki, however we were also able to develop our local citizen's interests in Bonsai and Suiseki, which was remarkable.

Jintan,Jiangsu, in China will be the next host of ASPAC.

We very much hope to further our international communication with all the visitors who came to Japan we will use this valuable experience to contribute to the Bonsai and Suiseki society.
We wish all the best for the future and prosperity of Asia-Pacific Bonsai and Suiseki Convention & Exhibition and to all of you.

Information about Night Auction

Entrance to the hall of Night auction is restricted to the registrants for our convention. When you participate in the bid, you are needed to register. Please check the following essential conditions for bid.

Essential conditions for bid
1 Payment must be done on the same day.
2 Winning participant must take their item on that day Auction is held.
3 Successful bid will be invalidated when winning participant does not abide the above-mentioned conditions.
4 Sign for the letter of Agreement must be done.
5 Winning participant must maintain the item after payment.
6 No items can be returned after payment.
7 Any complain is not accepted after payment, so participants are needed to go over the items at advance presentation from 9a.m. on 18 November to noon on 20 Nov.
8 Winning participants must have an arrangement and packing by themselves for the export of bonsai.
(We will prepare the tools to pack the items.)

Tea Ceremony -A once in a lifetime-

Tea ceremony is one of traditional cultures in Japan.
It is said that the tea ceremony is the complete work of art over the wide fields including art, handicraft, poetry, painting and calligraphic work, flower arrangement, construction of tea ceremony house, landscape gardening, dishes and sweets.
People can learn the decencies and minds through tea ceremony.

You will have the experience of tea ceremony through Chujo Culture Promoting Foundation, one of the Urasenke. It is the local party established to purpose the tradition of wonderful culture, has come down in this region, to next generation and the cultural creation in response to the new days.

Ikebana (Flower Arrangement) /2pm~4pm
Ikebana is one of traditional arts of Japan.
In the workshop, you may arrange some kinds of seasonal flowers and create the most beautiful shape for the flowers with your sensibility.

The guide is Ms. Hosei Takeda, a space artist and one of 1st Term Masters belonging to the head of Ohara School of Ikebana. She likes to go in the mountain and to contact with the natural flowers. She is earnest over the international exchange through the flowers.

Sanuki Kagari Temari (Traditional handmade ball in Kagawa) /10am~noon
It is the handmade ball by the technique of darning with the cotton, a kind of products at Edo era (1603-1868) in Kagawa Prefecture. A core of the base is made in the chaff. The characteristic is the simple texture interlaced by the color of cotton dyed with plant and the geometric pattern.
The handmade ball of tradition was ceased, but it had been recreated over 30 years and designated as the traditional industrial work. Everybody can enjoy the handmade ball for the commonalty.

In this workshop, we will make the handmade ball of basic pattern.

Shodo (Calligraphy) /10am~noon
Shodo was introduced from China with kanji character in old time. It has been merged into Japanese own culture and come down. It is one of traditional cultures of Japan. Shodo is the plastic art to reflect the spiritual depth and beautifulness, by written kanji and kana characters using a brush and sumi, which means ink.

In the workshop, you may reflect your own thought on your calligraphy over concentration of mind.

Kimono Wearing /10am~noon
Kimono is the national costume and one of traditional cultures of Japan. It has been came down and developed against the background of Japanese history and climate. When the people wear the kimono, they can naturally learn the graceful behavior and elegant manner.

In the workshop, you may taste the goodness of kimono and learn the heart of Japan.

Theme of Bonsai Demonstration

Special Happi Coat (Registration Kit)

Miss Kanazawa is a calligrapher and has charge of the letters of title in 2012 for the long-running historical drama series on NHK TV, very famous drama in Japan. She will collaborate with us on the special exhibition with bonsai. Her calligraphy on the folding screen must grab your heart.

A large number of people lost their life and a large number of people suffered from Aftermath of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. We heard that Miss Kanazawa was grieved at heart.

Many people from overseas gave the warmest support to wrapped Japan in serious grief.

Many friends from all over the world sent the warm message to our convention and we felt KIZUNA between people.

Friendship is one of our themes.

We hope that all our friends, who participate from all over the world, to exchange through bonsai and suiseki meet in Takamatsu and deepen their bond. We make special happi coat with our hope.
